I’m going to try something new – which I’ll admit is in itself new for me. xP I’ve not really been happy with the fact that this blog has been lying fallow, so I thought about ways to get myself back into posting on it. While obviously the biggest thing is to figure out what to post (well duh), the WordPress iPad app is another thing that gets in the way – by being stoopid. Every time I use it, it says the post has failed. When it hasn’t. So I click “publish” again. So it says “failed” again. But actually posts it again. So I have to go and delete a duplicate. Blah blah whinge moan.
So anyway, what other options to post from my iPad (which is really my main computer)? I’ve found myself liking WritingKit rather a lot, and using that to post markdown-formatted posts to my Tumblog (click for mostly running stuff). Then I heard from a mate about scriptogr.am, and after some consideration, and a bit of reading, decided to try that.
So, I’m thinking it’ll be: write post in WritingKit; export markdown file to Dropbox; it should then automatically become a [post at my scriptogr.am page](http://scriptogr.am/tsuken); and finally iftt should pick up the feed and create a new post on this blog (and of course you’re only likely to be reading this if it works as planned). xP
Well that didn’t work … First off, scriptogr.am doesn’t automatically post; you have to go to the website and click synchronise – which I think is a bit wet. Second, my ifttt-fu is clearly not strong, as even when. Made it post, and it showed n my scriptogr.am feed, ifttt didn’t pick it up.
So now I’m trying Poster. I can edit markdown in WritingKit and send it to Poster, and we’ll see if it posts to my blog ok. It failed at retrieving my existing posts, which was not a great sign ….
So. Ok. (Supposing this works…) Next thing: figure out what non-frustrated, angry, moaning, whingey stuff I can post here.
Edit 30.08.2012: I actually discovered a little while after getting this to post, that the reason the WordPress app was failing was the same reason Poster failed to retrieve my existing posts – and then failed to post a new one: my WordPress installation was way in need of updating. So I updated to the newest version of WordPress, and all became good.
There’s a moral in there..
