A Shred Psalm

The Lord is my shredder; I shall not want.
He maketh me to bust out some brootal metal:
He jameth with me beside cold beverages.
He restoreth my shred:
He leadeth me in the paths of metal for shred’ sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of blues,
I will fear no jazz: For shred is with me;
Thy string dampener and thy whammy bar, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a jam before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou lubricatest my nut with oil; My shred runneth over.

Surely goodness and metal shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will shred in the House of the Lord forever

(It came to me today, and I just couldn’t resist)

10 things that annoy me

Following a post on the i heart guitar blog, I thought I’d take Peter’s suggestion and do a post of 10 things that annoy me (though I probably already whinge on here more often than he does on i heart guitar) ;)

Anyway, 10 things that annoy me (in no particular order) …

  1. People who denigrate virtuosity on the guitar, as though it’s ok to have chops if you’re a pianist or sax player or something, but if you play guitar all you should play are strummed chords and sloppy pentatonics :x
  2. Cookie Monster Vocals
  3. Manufactured plastic music
  4. “Reality” TV
  5. 3 + 4 >_<
  6. Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Iridology, Reiki, Acupuncture, Deepak Chopra, Oprah Winfrey, Suzanne Somers, Dr Phil, Mike Adams … Woo in all its forms
  7. Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey, Age of Autism, Meryl Dorey, the Australian Vaccination Network … anti-vaxxers in general.
  8. Scientology
  9. The fact I have to sleep every night – damn waste of time

Aaaaand …

10. The fact that hair metal is not recognised as the pre-eminent music force in the history of the world. \m/ 8) \m/

Yet another online collaboration video

It’s better to play with other people ;) More stimulating, more enjoyable, and challenges you to do better.

I’ve done a couple of collaborative videos with Owen Vickers, a mate in NZ, but none for a little while. Just recently however, two have been done/finished.

First it was the one I did with Jon Bloomer from Guitar Noize

Now Philippe Monti has finished putting together a monster of a collaboration, with guitarists from around the world. I’m in there for a little section, and some harmonies at the end. I think it came out pretty cool 8)
