Some Easter confusion

Happy Easter (almost) … But there are a few things that puzzle me somewhat – in a way that is only partially facetious ;)

“Good” Friday?

Ok, let’s not talk about the origins of Easter at all. I mean, everyone knows it’s not Christian, right? We’re all aware it was originally a pagan fertility festival (eggs? bunnies?) co-opted by the early Christian church, right? Riiiiight??

That said, if we look at the Christian notion for a minute, their lord and saviour, Jesus Christ is said to have been brutally tortured and murdered on this day (well, tomorrow) a couple thousand years ago.

… So why again is it “Good” Friday?

Srsly. Makes no sense.

Even the chocolate thing doesn’t work, because that’s supposedly not till Sunday. Bugger that, sez I; we have our chocolate in the Friday, thereby making sense of “Good Friday”. 8)

Two = three??

Again taking the Christian notion that Jesus was crucified on the Friday, and entombed. Then on the third day he is said to have risen…. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always seen Sunday as coming 2 days after Friday :P

If I’ve been missing out all these years on an extra day of weekend, please let me know :P

I know I know: you/they count Friday as one of the days, but that was when he was supposedly crucified. It’s confusingly worded – though perhaps it made better sense about 1660 years ago when the bible was written.

Anyway: happy chocolate day for tomorrow, everyone. I’ll be busy making coffee and scoffing choccies.

If it bothers you so much try moving to Malaysia and where Easter doesn't seem to exist! :-0

I would put up with any amounts of Christian and Pagan nonsense to have a nice hot cross bun with grilled cheese melted over it ;-)

And for a cadbury creme egg I'd even claim Easter as part of my cultural heritage, religious or not!!! :D

Hot cross bun: yum. Grilled cheese: yum. Never even thought of putting the two together :? Does the cheese really work with the cinnamon and fruit and such in the buns?

Anyway, I'm not bothered, merely confused (and somewhat amused). I would have thought that they would have gone for Good Sunday, given that's the day he's said to have risen.

But then, I've never professed to understand religion.

I've never commented before to a blog, but I think yours is the coolest.

Like the ration approach to live and am teaching myself to play the electric guitar.

About easter: torture a bunny, bury him alive then it's a miracle when he digs himself out! whatever.

Enjoy youor videos. I wish I can get that good.

    Thanks
