I’ve been a bit slack with new YouTube vids lately, but I do have a few newies to share. Some of you might have seen the links on my Twitter and/or FaceBook, but if you didn’t check ‘em out, here they are again
The first is a cover of “So What” by Miles Davis. I played around with different tonal options, and ended up going gain-y for the whole thing. I had meant to use a blend of the magnetic and piezo-acoustic pickups, but happened to have the switch in the wrong place when I recorded – and it was just the magnetic pickups, so no acousticness to the sound.
… not much jazzness to the playing, either …
This next one is a silly little thing based off a slightly odd chordal vamp I had knocking around for many years. Something possessed me to go all keyboard-tastic and hip-hop on it
This third, Hide in the Sun, takes its name from a line in the Dio song “Holy Diver”: “You can hide in the sun ’til you see the light”. I named it thus because I had just started working on it when Twitter started buzzing with the news of Ronnie James Dio’s hospitalisation (and then death)
– so I decided it could be a sort of a tribute to him.
